Mariah Lichtenstern

Founding Partner

At the intersection of technology, entertainment, and venture capital, Mariah Lichtenstern addresses social, economic, and environmental equity through entrepreneurship. A multi-faceted "connector," Mariah works with amazing people she feels incredibly fortunate to know and strives to build bridges between those with privilege and those with valuable but under-utilized perspectives.

To showcase and capitalize on diverse perspectives, she co-founded DiverseCity Ventures and  to empower founders and filmmakers of all backgrounds. She has a special interest in fostering the inclusion of those underrepresented by virtue of "otherness," including gender, culture, geography, and socio-economic status.

The Managing Director of Founder Institute, Sacramento, Mariah is also a frequent speaker, mentor, and judge. She serves as an advisor for the California Clean Energy Fund's $24MM CleanTech program, CalSEED, Berkeley Skydeck, Village Capital Fintech Forward, and the Yale School of Medicine's Digital Innovation and Diversity Initiative. She is a member of UCLA Ventures and an Aspen Tech Policy Fellow. She's an alumna of UC Berkeley, USC, and UCLA, and has a Masters in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University's MOOC.

"Forget about vague heuristics and double standards.  We're not interested in preserving the status quo or bringing the baggage of unmitigated bias to the table.  We recognize the value of diverse perspectives - including those formed by gender, identity, ethnicity, age, geography, parenthood, industry, and a host of other affinities. Diversity is a key factor in shaping the future and optimizing the bottom line"
